Wooden Watercolor Journal - Botanical - Echinacea
Wooden Watercolor Journal - Botanical - Echinacea
I love botanical illustrations, and when I drew this echinacea, I felt it would be the perfect cover for a watercolor notebook. I wanted it to be inexpensive, so instead of hand binding this one, I decided to use metal coil. However, the colors available leave much to be desired, so I used thick tarnish resistant copper wire, and wrapped the coil myself. The wire is 16 gauge and hardened, so the coils will not deform.
Echinacea Purpurea

Native Americans used Echinacea to
treat snake bites, colic, fevers and old, stubborn internal and external wounds.
This journal is made entirely in my shop, from drawing the echinacea to cutting the wood and laser engraving the design and binding the book.
